Information Design

Blues music is an important part of American history. With this in mind, I set out to make a graphic design piece that discussed the important influences within blues music and how individual artists influenced styles over time.

Every artist has a sphere of influence, both who influenced them and who they influenced. In this piece color is selected to delineate each individual style of blues and and value is selected to show that style's influence over time.

The delta style was influential on early blues styles as well as through the history of Chicago and rock n' roll.

Robert Johnson was influential on early Delta, Memphis and Texas blues while still remaining relevant today.

Katrina Poster Project

The Katrina Poster Project was a website where many well known designers and agencies had submitted posters to be sold for charity following the destruction of Hurricane Katrina. My class of third year designers at the University of Cincinnati were given the opportunity to compete to have our poster sold on the website. My poster was selected to be sold.

While the inspirational words running vertically near the top were meant to add subtle type texture, the words running at angles near the bottom call out establishments that had reopened amidst the relief effort. This was all built to echo the call, "Encore Orleans."

Alfred Hitchcock Film Festival

With content provided by our professor we were tasked to create a promotional video for this fictitious film festival. We had a few weeks to put it together and the final work was shown in our end of quarter show.

Typographic Journey

As third year design students we were asked to go on a walk and express what we saw using typography. I saw trash cans and cats fighting amongst many other things. I chose a muted color palette to communicate the crisp, cool Sunday morning weather and captured some of my thoughts in poetry.

The walk uses beat inspired poetry to communicate the journey. I also keep track of my progress by marking the street signs I passed along the way.
