EST analytical headquarters are located in Cincinnati, Ohio. EST manufactures, distributes and services analytical instruments for laboratories. Think robots for chemistry. Their products automate testing for a variety of industries including food and flavor, gas and oil but primarily environmental applications.
I designed the logo and above signage for the EST corporate headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio. The molded plastic sign is lit from above and is placed over the main entrance to EST analytical.
The EST analytical 25 year anniversary timeline was originally drawn up in large slices with depth and lighting. As we worked on the content however we found that it fit neatly into a circle. The final design includes three dimensional letters and direct printing on an aluminum di-bond panel.
Each of the five sections of the timeline celebrates the relative milestones and innovations that took place during that time period. While the time periods vary in length, they include an evolving corporate identity, expanding product line, ever increasing workforce, and patents and innovations that mark the foundation of success that EST enjoys today.
The final aluminum di-bond panels and plastic dimensional lettering can be seen here...
The EST analytical core competencies were developed to create objective metrics for use in employee performance reviews. My goal was to communicate those competencies within the EST analytical headquarters. We selected the conference room for placement of a four part poster series due to it's central location in the building and numerous internal and external facing meetings.
The aluminum di-bond panels were selected again, this time they were paired with a blue and orange vinyl, along with 1/2 inch round standoffs that give the pieces depth and emphasis in the room.
While the graphics vary, the icon and message are in the same place on each poster. This allows for a customer to easily scan the poster's message over the heads of other meeting attendees. With our brand message just a glance away, my goal was to create an immersive brand experience for customers and employees.
While the Core Competencies were used in the conference room, EST analytical Core Values were identified for use in a mixed use hallway and the manufacturing floor. We chose pennants for the manufacturing floor to evoke the idea of teambuilding and leadership while posters in the mixed use hallway were meant to be more traditional and inspiring.
The large pennants boldly stand out while their shape still allows for a feeling of openness on the manufacturing floor. Lighting from above is also maximized with this tapered design.
The Core Values posters were framed and placed in a hallway that can be seen from the employee kitchen. They were intended to be a conversation piece but were also done in a familiar style that would blend in nicely with the office surroundings.
Starting in 2016 EST analytical ran an internal branding campaign focused on motivating and engaging employees around our yearly action plans. My goal was to develop a three part poster series that would stand out on its own while blending in to the already branded work environment.
The "We Can" poster series was a compliment to the "We Will" campaign that launched our internal campaigns in 2016.
The "Right Now" campaign was intended to spark a sense of urgency among employees. A pattern was chosen to reflect each action plan and imagery was intended to be on-trend.
With a successful 2018 in the books, the tagline, "Move Forward and Make It Happen" was chosen to tell employees to keep it going!
With the pandemic looming, these designs were the last in our internal campaign poster series. We also unveiled a new Mission Statement which we advertised here as well.
Following the COVID-19 pandemic a single poster was designed to communicate the EST Mission statement and would stand at all three previous poster locations. This poster still stands today.
Just a campaign away EST analytical could resume internal branding at any time. With workers having gone remote and meetings being conducted virtually our yearly campaigns are left to individual teams to reinforce appropriately. One thing is for sure, design will clearly communicate our objectives as they unfold over time.
